One thing we can-and should do to live a long healthy life is develop healthy habits. Make living a healthy lifestyle become a habit, something you practice everyday. By living a healthy lifestyle you will find many of the mental, emotional, and physical problems we all encounter in life can be managed more effectively or in many instances eliminated entirely.
Living A Healthy Lifestyle-Steps You Should Take
Here’s some suggestions to help you live a long and healthy life. Keep in mind it doesnt matter where you’re at on this road of life, it’s never too late to put the techniques to work to improve the quality of your life.
- Take a good muti-vitamin with minerals on a daily basis.
- Eat healthy! Eat more fruits and vegetables, limit fat in your diet, eat some protein every day. Choose the foods you eat wisely. If you’re overweight eat less-if you’re underweight-eat more. Be in control of your weight!
- Don’t smoke! If you choose to smoke-sooner or later you probably will have smoking related health issues-it’s as simple as that.
- Exercise, stay fit. Be active every day. Take walks, use weights, do yoga, exercise whatever muscles you can, the bigger the muscle group the better.
- Get a good nights sleep Some people need less sleep than others-but don’t short change yourself-put aside the time to get enough sleep to feel good and be your best.
- Eat a good breakfast everyday, to fuel your daily activities.
- If you drink alcohol, do so moderately. A small amount of alcohol daily may be beneficial (a beer or two, or a glass of wine.)
- Drink plenty of water everyday, six to eight glasses is recommended. Our bodies are mostly water and we need a steady supply to maintain healthy bodily functions.
- Stay connected, interact with people, volunteer, give of yourself, make a difference, have a purpose in life. Thinking of others will help take your mind off yourself and your own problems.
- Exercise your brain, do crossword puzzles, play games, enjoy a hobby, read, keep your mind busy.
- Try to live your life as stress free as possible. Change things that you can to reduce your stress level.
- Get out in the sunshine, it’s good for you (in moderation) and can lift your spirits.
- And perhaps most important of all is to practice positive thinking. “As you think-so you are” is so very true! A good positive attitude can make anyones life happier, and more fulfilling.
- And last but not least (don’t put this off) get regular check-ups and screenings.
Living a healthy lifestyle is all about having healthy habits. Everyones day is filled with choices, what do I eat for breakfast a bacon and egg breakfast loaded with fat, or a healthy bowl of oatmeal, should I take a walk or eat this box of Twinkys, should I smoke a cigarette or should this be the day I finally quit, you get the idea, decide today I will make healthy choices. You are as healthy as the choices you make on a daily basis, make the right choices and you can live a long healthy life.
Here’s a couple of truisms to think about:
1.You are what you think. or As you think so you are. If you see yourself as being healthy, fit, and ready to take on the world, there’s a whole lot more of a chance that it will be true!
2.You are what you eat. If you eat foods loaded with fat and calories, and put it away like there’s no tomorrow, you will probably be overweight and out of shape. If you eat healthy foods, and the right amounts, you will more than likely be healthy.
So think of yourself as healthy and fit, and eating the right amount of healthy foods daily and Be Healthy!
